Hello,
and welcome! Let me
introduce myself. I am
Millie Travis
, President and Event
Manager. I opened Events
with Style, Ltd. after a career of over 20 years managing special events
for
Monticello, home to our
nation’s third president, Thomas Jefferson.
During
my time at Monticello, I planned, coordinated and managed over 500
events that included food, drink and entertainment and that served over
41,000 guests. These events
included public and private ceremonies and dedications, breakfasts,
luncheons, receptions and black-tie dinners and ranged in size from a
dozen or fewer people to over 300 invited guests, in addition to members
of the public and media at some of the larger ceremonies.
My
planning responsibilities included selection of caterers and
coordination of menus, including tasting and choice of wines; selection
of rental equipment and floral arrangements; choice and selection of
entertainment and photographic services; and arrangements for
transportation and security needs.
Planning for these events also required selection and oversight
of invitations; calligraphy and printing; guest list management;
keepsake and program design; budget management and protocol issues.
I managed on-site set-up and oversight of the event from start to
finish, including clean-up and break-down at the conclusion of the
event.
